Goldengate is an Oracle product that allows organizations to replicate and transform data between databases. It synchronizes data in real-time and also works in heterogeneous environments.

Goldengate is a helpful product for MNCs that have complex business requirements. Due to the geographical expanse, they have multiple data centers to cater to local needs. However, these data centers should be in sync at all times, and the data should be consistent across all the centers at all times. There is a robust system at the backend that ensures this and allows easy management of data.

So when a US-based direct merchant of party supplies, arts and crafts, toys, and novelties had a Goldengate requirement, they wanted to work with the best service partner. After scanning the market, they chose to go ahead with Doyensys because of our technical capabilities and skills.

Problem Statement

The project involved bidirectional replication that can be challenging. As the business is already established and has customers worldwide, they could not afford any downtime. Secondly, the replication had to be flawless, or the system would go off the rails.

The US-based client also needed expert services for the administration of their databases and implementation of Goldengate.

Project objective

The project came with multiple requirements. Apart from replication, the client also needed maintenance of databases as per best industry standards. They expected Doyensys to suggest enhancements regularly and proactively to ensure optimum productivity. The client also wanted the team to monitor databases with OEM and provide WebLogic support.

Solutions

Based on the customer’s requirements, the team at Doyensys supported the company’s databases. They delved deep into understanding their issues to suggest the best recommendations from upgrades and migrations. The team was also involved in providing WebLogic support and continues to do so.

The Doyensys team also successfully carried out Goldengate implementation. While mapping the business requirements, the team discovered several dependencies. It made the project a bit challenging, but the team could cross the hurdle without any hiccups.

Conclusion

Initially, the project was supposed to include only the Goldengate replication and a few database enhancements. After witnessing the team’s expertise first hand, the US-based client extended the services. Today, the team is engaged in providing database and Weblogic support. The US-based company has time-and-again appreciated the commitment and dedication of the team towards their projects.
