INTRODUCTION :- In this blog post, we will discuss Agent Patching briefly. While we typically perform patching from the backend, using the OEM Console for patch application can significantly expedite the process and save a substantial amount of time.
Steps for applying an agent patch on OEM Agents from the CONSOLE.
1. Download the Proper Agent patch in the local machine
- Navigate to Enterprise à Provisioning and Patching à Saved Patches.
- Upload the patch à select the patch location and hit upload.
- Select the Patch Number and Create a plan
Click on Add à Set Target Type à Agent
Search for the target name i.e (agent name). Hit Select after Multiselect
Click Create Plan once the agents are selected
Note: Ensure that the patches you select have the same platform as the targets that you want to patch. For example, Linux x86 patches can be applied only on Linux x86 targets. Any mismatch will result in a patching error.
- CHOOSE THE PLAN AND ANALYZE
Go to Enterprise à Provisioning and Patching àPatches and Updates.
Select the plan name and verify and hit Next
Verify the Patch Set and Hit Next.
Deployment Options
Scroll down and uncheck the Option Opatch Upgrade. (Make sure it is not Ticked) and Click Next
Validation: Run Analyze
Wait until it is finished the process.
Ready For Deployment :

Review and Deploy:
This Can be Scheduled to the time or can be done immediately. Set at your choice and Click Submit
Wait till its Completion
Verify the Results or Check from the backend
Validation:
[OPatch]$ cd /u01/app/Agent134c/agent_13.4.0.0.0/OPatch [OPatch]$ export PATH=/u01/app/Agent134c/agent_13.4.0.0.0/OPatch:$PATH [OPatch]$ opatch lsinventory | grep 34692141Patch 34692141 : applied on Wed Jun 14 02:34:27 CDT 2023
34692141, 34713322, 31979399, 34370057, 34396652, 34380705, 34089645

CONCLUSION:- This approach could be the simplest method for applying agent patches, effectively saving a considerable amount of time compared to using the OEM Console. The additional benefit includes applying patches in multiple agents within a single group and applying patches collectively. This means that a single patch can be applied to all agents within the group simultaneously. We’ve successfully tested this by applying the same patch to a set of 10-15 agents, and the results were quite impressive.
