Question:

Difference between standard functionality of REASSIGN and DELEGATE in vacation rules setup.

Application:

Oracle Fusion Self Service Procurement – Version 11/ later

Solution:

Reassign changed the whole approval hierarchy based on the assignor’s and Delegate’s only route to a particular user and then come back to follow the initial approval hierarchy.

Below are the differences with explanation:

REASSIGN -It will suabstitute the entire approval hierarchy to the assigner hierarchy, say for example preparer’s manager-supervisor hierarchy the PO is following for approval say for example when you create a PO, clicked on Manage Approval from PO UI, you can see the approval is A1, A2, A3. Now A1 is on leave and having a Reassign type VR which assigns to B1. Now once PO is submitted instead of following A1, A2, A3, since A1 has reassigned the task to B1, so PO will follow the hierarchy B1, B2, B3 until the number of approval levels mentioned in the approval rule. Please find the attachment Reassign.docx

DELEGATE – Continuing above example say PO should follow the path A1, A2, A3 and if A1 has delegated his task to B1 then once PO is submitted the approval path would become B1, A2, A3. Please find the attachment Delegate.docx
