Having spent 5 years with Doyensys, Nirmal has a deep understanding of the place that Doyensys is. He appreciates the effort that the management and HR team have put into making the workforce productive and the environment less stressful. We thought of getting to know him better and needless to say, were astounded by his answers

How long has been your journey with Doyensys?

It has been a wonderful 5 year-long journey with Doyesys and I am glad it continues.

What is your role at Doyensys?

I work as a Project Lead.

What does your average day look like?

My average day starts with going through my official mails and calendar inch by inch, after which I collaboratively plan my day to ensure that the most urgent work gets done first. Since I am responsible for overseeing my team as they progress on various implementation and production support issues, I organize meetings to guide them on a need basis. I touch base with the clients to keep them updated about the progress of the projects and make sure they are satisfied with the performance and statistics.

Can you quote your favourite Doyensys memory?

One fine day, we found our company’s President and Co-Founder Mr Somu Chockalingam giving gold coins to employees who had served for more than 5 years in the company. That day we came to know that 80% of the employees in the company got gold coins. It was an indication that once you are into the company, you stay here for a long time.

If you had to pick one aspect that you like the most about working at Doyensys, what would that be?

“Easing the pressure” In Doyensys, employees’ job design, role, control, training, relationships, opportunity and workload have been taken as an utmost priority. It eliminates the source of stress and makes us a productive workforce.

How do you contribute apart from work at Doyensys? (Eg: Contributing to Events, CSR Activities, Conducting Sports etc.)

In Doyensys we do a lot of CSR activities. For instance, we helped people who got affected by Gaja Cyclone, Kerala Flood, Chennai Flood and also ran an internal drive to collect funds for those hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. We do this kind of activity on monthly basis or as and when required. I participate in these initiatives as they are close to my heart.

What kind of a leader are you? How do you rate yourself as a leader and what do you do to motivate your team?

I am a leader who has the ability to lead a team to success despite setbacks like miscommunication, limited resources or pressure. I motivate my team by offering opportunities for self-development and setting clear goals.

What do you like doing when you are not at work? (Eg. Shopping, playing games, etc)

During my spare time, I enjoy playing football and spending time with my family & friends.

Who do you look up to in your life – someone you would want to follow?

I admire the qualities of being selfless, sincere, honest and courageous. All the people who possess these qualities are idols in my life.

What has been the noteworthy achievement in life that you look back on with pride?

In Doyensys I have co-authored a book “Is your Data Secure” and also become a blogger, which I look back on with pride.

What is your favourite quote in life?

Be Good and Do Good.

What has been a challenge you faced in life that you overcame?

The biggest challenge I overcame was balancing my personal and professional life which I have learnt from the work culture in Doyensys
