The webinar started with a welcome note by Pritam Jaipuriar, Head of Sales, Doyensys, depicting the objective of the whole webinar session. The webinar is about how businesses can leverage Oracle Application Express to drive business value with the help of standalone and integrated solutions.

The Guest speaker was Mr. Udit Pahwa, IT Head at Huhtamaki, a global firm for packaging solutions. He is a former CA who took up the software career after being fascinated with software development.

With 20 years of experience in Oracle and with an expert IT team at Huhtamaki, he has developed various applications that helped to increase the company’s productivity. He has been working on Oracle Apex for the last four years.  Oracle Apex is a modern approach low code platform that is easy to use and develop code.

Using Oracle E-Business Suite, Huhtamaki developed multiple acquisitions with various individual applications. Mr. Pahwa explained that the set of applications may be one-way, two-way, stand-alone, or integrated applications all work well with Oracle Apex with a database of 2.5TB. They created the applications as role-based for increased data security.

Apex applications:

Customer centricity: Has been built-in within two days using Oracle Apex for Huhtamaki employees.

ERP Help Desk: Ticketing tool integrated with outlook and Gmail to access the requests of customers.

Business excellence: To record business excellence projects and to track the productivity of the project. It is helpful in final audition and compliance, reducing too much workforce and brainstorming sessions.

5S: Similar to business excellence, they are efficient for 5S initiatives.

Capex Approvals: For eliminating the paperwork, Capex Approvals are mandatory. It’s integrated into outlook and email for instant notifications.

SOP Documentation: It’s been introduced to maintain the documentation of different procedures in Huhtamaki. It becomes easy to track productivity.

EBS Integrated Applications:

Price Panel: Integrated to another application to enter the contracted price in category levels.

Rebate Notes: It is for automated credit creation for customers based on six different attributes. It helps in eliminating an enormous amount of paperwork and is connected with Outlook and Gmail for any notifications.

IT asset management: Integrated to the FA tool, the application is deployed to maintain and monitor the usage of IT assets.

NCMS: Non-Conformance Management System is a tool to record any quality detects. It will be helpful for the customer to file compliant and get credits after the process.

Planning & Scheduling: This application is integrated into Oracle ERP for Central and Plant planning team operations. It manages well in scheduling the orders and fixing MRP.

BI Dashboards: The tool is information flow of sales, salesperson view, collections, receivables, Inventory, manufacturing, procurement, and sample development. The information is updated every 30 minutes.

WCM: It is deployed with the support of Apex for a lot of analysis in different areas of projects. It has various dashboards to know the input data in every aspect like Inventory, Customer Health Card, Receivable, etc.

On a Final Note:

In the question and answer session, he answered a few questions about Apex’s license, saying if licensed for enterprise database no need for any extra software subscriptions. About plugins, he explained, it depends on the usage. One can use different plugins like Java or CSS. There is no need for any external technologies to boost the performance in the case of Oracle Apex. Huhtamaki is further working on developing QR code applications as per government regulations.

They are using MS SQL application to generate QR codes for Oracle-based applications. These are primary touch points discussed briefly during the webinar.
