Introduction:
Oracle database always comes up with additional licensing for extra features and most prominent feature is Diagnostics and Tuning pack.
These packs are controlled by database parameters and some customers will enable this by default without having Diagnostics and tuning pack license.
We will see in detail here about these packs.
Most of us know Oracle Diagnostic and Tuning pack is required to Use AWR and ADDM reports. But what we miss to know are what other features requires these licenses. Here we will see what else are eligible in those packs.

Common Mistakes:
As we see, we have numerous features enabled once we buy Diagnostics and Tuning pack, many DBA’s or customers without knowing the impact of Oracle Auditing, we tend to use these features using Enterprise managers by running SQL tuning for SQL Id, create AWR and ADDM reports etc.
We should always ensure that we comply with Oracle licensing before using such features.
We will see what parameter controls these feature in next post.
