The Oracle Open World event takes place annually, and it is the biggest symposium for all companies who use Oracle technology for application development and software services. This year it took place from 16th September to 19th September at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco, California.
The event was hosted by Oracle and had quite a few addresses by giants of the tech world which were rich with knowledge!
There was Larry Ellison, the Chief Technology Officer of Oracle who gave a keynote address on Oracle application directions and differentiators. He pointed out that Oracle only offers cloud applications based on machine learning. It further differentiates based on cloud infrastructure and cloud applications.
He also introduced the second generation cloud features and said it is vital for protecting critical enterprise data. The second-generation cloud is also the base of the Oracle Autonomous Database.
Several innovations are also bringing changes to the Oracle Database leadership. The updates increased autonomous functionality, automated data protection and accelerated data access.
He also brought to the table the Oracle Cloud Free Tier which allows users to make use of the Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for an unlimited period! Also, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure will be available in 20 more regions by the end of 2020 so that more companies and customers can avail of the innovation and services.
Oracle EVP Steve Miranda mentioned that Oracle has the most advanced application suite with fast innovation and a customer-first approach.
Though Oracle earlier used to heavily rely on machine learning, it is now slowly moving base to the new kid on the block- Artificial Intelligence(AI). The newest technology they are bringing out will be heavily reliant on Artificial intelligence, digital assistants, and the Internet of Things. And there’s another surprise in the bag: Enterprise Analytics will be pre-packaged for Fusion ERP.
Among the plethora of new things discussed was the Oracle HCM cloud which is a boon for HR managers! It has many cool features like LinkedIn profile import and automated multi-step processes.
But the best piece of news is that VMware and Oracle are teaming up to support the hybrid clouds of the customer! VMware clouds can now be run on Oracle clouds, and VMware environment will now support Oracle software!
With this year’s event serving up such aces, we techies are surely waiting for the next one to come by soon!
