In today’s time, technology is at the core of the smooth functioning of organizations. Such is the dependence that it is hard to imagine a day without it. However, it is equally essential to update it with time to reap the right benefits. Outdated technology can not only reduce your efficiencies but also be more expensive.
A hardscape and masonry company based in the US found itself in a similar situation where they felt the need to upgrade their technological platform. They observed they were paying a high licensing cost for their on-premise Oracle EBS Suite. As a result, their operating expenses were becoming a challenge.
As they started looking for a vendor, they got to know about Doyensys. The existing clients had only good things to say about the Oracle capabilities of the service provider. They felt motivated to connect with the team at Doyensys and understand more about their projects and the skills to fix their impediment.
What were the requirements of the client?
Before the advent of cloud technology, it was a norm for organizations to invest in hardware to support their on-premise Oracle environment. However, it came with a high cost of licensing. The hardscape and masonry company, which had still not moved to cloud, was footing this high bill and thus, was incurring high operating expenses.
After some market research, they realized that migrating their Oracle E-Business Suite R12.2.5 production & non-production environments to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure was the right fix to their problems. Apart from this, they also wanted a Disaster Recovery environment setup for the same.
Were there any challenges along the way?
As Doyensys started working on the project, it identified two main challenges.
- The client had worked with another vendor for the integration of Oracle E-Business Suite with Oracle Sales Cloud Application. However, this time, the hardware and masonry company did not want to use the vendor and was also not comfortable with the option of Oracle Integration Cloud.
- Secondly, the Doyensys team recognized that the network bandwidth between the on-premise datacentre and Oracle cloud was of low quality. They came to know of this problem during the development phase. One option to rectify this problem was to use Fastconnect. However, the client wanted another option.
What were the resolutions offered by Doyensys?
Considering the challenges and limitations, Doyensys proposed and implemented the following solutions:
- The team worked to migrate the Oracle E-Business Suite R12.2.5 from on-premise to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Gen 2.
- A Disaster Recovery setup was introduced for this environment on the Cloud.
- Discoverer & APEX was also migrated from on-premise to the Cloud.
- A public Load Balancer was used for the exposure of REST web services.
- Snapshot Standby Roll forward approach was used to migrate the database & application to Oracle Cloud.
- This approach also resolved the problem of low network bandwidth between the on-premise datacentre and Oracle Cloud.
In Summary
Doyensys was successful in implementing the right solutions to effectively resolve the difficulties of the client. Doyensys went a step further and also implemented solutions to improve the performance of the Oracle E-Business Suite applications by migrating to the Cloud.
