With high client demand for Oracle Cloud services, Oracle currently has 37 cloud regions worldwide, with intentions to have a minimum of 44 cloud regions by the end of 2022, making it one of the fastest-growing cloud providers.
Oracle was excited about taking the next stage in their ambitious regional development plan in 2020, with the addition of five new cloud areas. Local territories in Saudi Arabia (Jeddah), Australia (Melbourne), Japan (Osaka), Canada (Montreal), and the Netherlands had been included in their cloud development journey. By 2020, they were operational and accessible via the Oracle Cloud Console.
In 2021, as enterprises sought to address issues such as business continuity, disaster recovery, and data sovereignty more effectively in the aftermath of rapid digital transformation, Oracle announced that it would add 14 new regions as an expansion over the next few years in the market of its cloud footprint, bringing the total number of available cloud regions to 44.
According to Oracle executives, the growth plan would be carried out in two parts, with new cloud regions opening initially in Milan, Stockholm, Marseille, Johannesburg, Jerusalem, Spain, Singapore, Mexico, and Colombia. The second phase would include other regions in Abu Dhabi (UAE), Saudi Arabia, France, Israel, and Chile.
Oracle has announced the launch of two new European cloud regions, one in Milan and one in Stockholm, and later added another cloud region in Johannesburg, South Africa, in early 2022.
Adding New Sites in Countries to Meet Customer Requirements
Oracle intends to construct at least two cloud regions in almost every nation where it operates to assist customers in building genuine business continuity and disaster protection while also addressing their in-country data residence needs. The United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, Brazil, India, and Australia already have two cloud areas.
Oracle aims to meet clients where they are by allowing them to maintain data and services where they need them. Customers can implement Oracle Cloud entirely within their own data centers using Dedicated Region, locally using public cloud-based management, or remotely on edge using Roving Edge Infrastructure.
Oracle created its first cloud region in Milan, Italy, to meet the growing cloud computing needs of private and public sector enterprises. The Oracle Cloud Milan Region will give clients and partners access to Oracle technologies to help them build their businesses.
The Milan region is strategically placed in the center of Italy’s economic and industrial core, supporting some of the country’s most important public sector institutions and businesses, such as banking, fashion, food, tourism, and one of Europe’s largest start-up groups.
The Lombardy area, which accounts for about a quarter of Italy’s GDP, is home to over half of the country’s industrial and corporate activity. The Stockholm region is ideally situated to promote the digitization of the Nordic region, which is frequently listed among the world’s most technologically advanced.
Denmark, Sweden, and Finland just topped the European Union’s Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) for 2021, which measures development in digital competitiveness in areas such as human capital, broadband connection, and commercial and public sector integration of digital technology.
Delivering All Cloud Services
Oracle is also serving the growing cloud computing demands of private and public sector companies with its first cloud area in the Nordics. Customers & business partners can access Oracle solutions through the Oracle Cloud Stockholm Region, which will help them build their businesses.
The Oracle Cloud Johannesburg Region will accelerate cloud adoption in Africa while also assisting businesses in improving their productivity and fostering radical innovations.

Oracle also provides a comprehensive range of application modernization and cloud methods to help African businesses compete globally.
The fourth industrial revolution, fuelled by cloud-based technologies, has increased dramatically in South Africa and the rest of Africa. Enterprises in Johannesburg, such as Telkom, Africa’s largest telecoms firm, and others throughout the continent, are turning to cloud technologies to scale their digital operations swiftly.
Cloud strategy has played a pivotal role in assisting African public and private sector organizations in ensuring business transformation, delivering critical services, and accomplishing the changing customer expectations in recent months.
The Oracle Johannesburg area provides a next-generation cloud that allows organizations to run applications quicker and more securely for less money, increasing their resilience, agility, and ROI.
Cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft, and Google have embarked on a global cloud infrastructure construction binge as corporations worldwide boost their spending on cloud infrastructure.
Most global organizations choose a cloud provider based on the geographic reach and offerings. Oracle is pledging to deliver its services in more locations than ever by expanding its cloud regions. Oracle hopes to continue tapping into critical business hubs as part of its worldwide expansion goals through 2022.
Additional regions might affect performance because they allow businesses to deploy applications closer to their consumers, lowering network latency. Using advanced technology for IT evaluation has various advantages.
