ECC Menu Configuration Fix for Data Set Authorization Errors

Introduction:

While accessing Oracle E-Business Suite Embedded Command Center (ECC), users may encounter the error “400 Bad Request: Current user not authorized to access data set” for specific ECC datasets such as AR_ECC_CUSTOMER, IAR_ECC_CUSTOMER, or IAR_ECC_INTERNAL. This issue typically occurs due to missing ECC menu functions or incorrect menu assignments within the user’s responsibility. As a result, ECC is unable to authorize the user to access the required data sets, even though the user may have valid application access.

This document explains the root cause of the issue and provides step-by-step instructions to resolve it by updating the appropriate ECC menu configuration

ERROR:

“400 Bad Request: Current user not authorized to access data set [AR_ECC_CUSTOMER, IAR_ECC_CUSTOMER, IAR_ECC_INTERNAL]. Try logging in with the right responsibility.”

Cause: The issue occurs because the ECC dataset–specific functions are missing from the ECC menu assigned to the user’s responsibility.

Steps to Fix the ECC Authorization Error:

Steps 1:

Login with System Administrator Responsibility.

Ensure you log in to Oracle E-Business Suite using the System Administrator responsibility, as menu modifications require administrative privileges

Steps 2:

Navigate to the Application Menu

Go to: System Administrator → Application → Menu

Step 3:

Query the ECC Developer Menu

In the Menu form, query for ECC_DEVELOPER_MENU

Step4:

Add a New Record for the Required Module
Add a new menu entry for the relevant module.
In this case, since the error is related to Receivables, select the Receivables (AR) module.

Identify the missing ECC function related to the dataset and add it to the menu

Save the Changes

Click OK and Save the menu changes to ensure the new function is committed successfully

Step 5:

Re-login to ECC.
Log out from Oracle E-Business Suite and log back in.
Reopen the ECC page to confirm that the authorization error is resolved.

Conclusion:

The “Current user not authorized to access data set” error in Oracle E-Business Suite ECC is commonly caused by missing or improperly assigned ECC menu functions. By updating the ECC_DEVELOPER_MENU through the System Administrator responsibility and ensuring the correct module-specific functions are added, the issue can be resolved quickly and effectively.
After saving the changes and re-logging into ECC, users should regain proper access to the required datasets without encountering authorization errors, ensuring uninterrupted ECC functionality and reporting.
